25th September, 2022 Away

TEAM: Josh, Terry, Jim, Ken, Alex, Craig, Manny, Stu, Lee, Drane, Dan SUBS:
A beautiful morning once again and an unexpectedly beautiful surface (once the huge dog shite had been cleared off it.) 'I've never been this far out in this direction' was the call from some of the Mondays players. An unknown feeling to this game as this team had come up straight from Div 4 and we had had some unsavory reports from the previous season. All the same - Mondays went into this game off the back of a famous victory over Cowboys and a 25th year anniversary on the horizon.
Arron, still not back from injury, agreed to ref the first half before having to shoot off.
Mondays had all of the play apart from a couple of 'up and unders' from the oppo which the defence and Josh covered well. Towards the middle of the half - one of Mondays' great moves resulted in a cross from the right hand side from Draner who found Dan making a brilliant run in front of his man to head home.
Mondays could easily have been 3 or 4 up inside 25 minutes and it was clear for all to see who the better team was. It was on about the half hour mark that Teyfant's true colours started to show.
It started with a high foot and a head butt off the ball. Arron had to have a word with their lino after calling an offside that was never off. Their centre back became very angry and that is how the half ended.
The second half was unfortunately much worse. Teyfant clearly knew that they weren't going to win by normal means and therefore fouling and much worse was the order of the half.
Without the protection of a proper ref (by this time it was their lino in charge), the game went from bad to worse. The less said about this match the better really and hopefully something can be done about their poor behaviour!
Very pleasing to get the goal early doors which saw out a 1-0 win.
A special mention goes out to the whole team for holding their nerve but especially Manny who led from the middle and showed everyone what a professional he really is.
